Lions District 22B - Location
This map shows the nine Counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland
that comprise the entire area currently within Lions District 22B.
The area currently within Lions District 22B, was originally part of Lions District 16, which was organized in 1921 and encompassed the States of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columia.
In 1922, District 16 was divided into Districts 16, 20, and 22. The State of New Jersey remained as District 16, the State of New York became District 20, and the States of Maryland and Delware along with the District of Columbia became District 22.
Lions District 22B came into being In 1944, when the "multiple district" structure was adopted and District 22 was sub-divided into Districts 22A and 22B. District 22A became the fourteen counties of Maryland's Western Shore, Baltimore City and the District of Columbia; and District 22B became the nine counties of Maryland's Eastern Shore and the three counties of the State of Delaware.
In 1947, District 22A was further subdivided into Districts 22A, 22C and 22W; and District 22B was further subdivided into Districts 22B and 22D. The three counties in the State of Delaware became District 22D, and the nine counties on Maryland's Eastern Shore remained as District 22B.

Today's Lions District 22B encompasses a land area of approximately 3,375 sq. miles and includes the Maryland Counties of Cecil, Kent, Queen Annes, Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset. It is approximately 150 miles long and 70 miles wide at it's widest point, and in 2010, had a population in excess of 449,226 people, including "approximately 1,400 District 22B Lions, who are making tomorrow's history today".
