2019 Fishability Day
June 08, 2019
9am - Noon
Genoa National Fish Hatchery and Great River Road Interpretive Center S5631 State Highway 35, Genoa, Wisconsin 54632
Wisconsin Lions District 27-D2 in cooperation with the Genoa Fish Hatchery is hosting a Fishability Day for K-12 Students. This is not to be confused with a “Tournament”. This will be a day where the emphasis will be on fun! The event will start at 9:00 A.M. with a brief ceremony and comments by District Lion Officers and Fish Hatchery personnel. Fishing will then be done around one of the ponds at the Fish Hatchery. There are handicapped accessible docks for wheelchairs etc. After fishing there will be a light lunch for all. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and a ribbon or other small memento of the occasion. The T-shirts will be available for Lions and other guests to purchase. It should be noted that participants should NOT bring their own fishing gear or bait. All will be furnished by the Hatchery in order to avoid any contamination of the trout pond. There will be at least two and possibly three trout of good size available for each participant. Lion members are needed to be one-on-one with each participant for safety reasons and to help with whatever is needed. We need volunteer Lion members to help with parking, assisting participants, cleaning/icing fish, serving food etc. Students (K-12) with special needs are invited to participate in this fun day. The parents or guardians MUST attend. Because of space available to fish the participation will be limited to thirty (30) determined by the registration dates. Registration is needed by May 19, 2019. See attached flyer.
