The LASH Health Screening Unit is almost ready to go to work. Our first screening will be Channel 45's B'more Healthy Expo on March 16, 2019 at the Baltimore Civic Center.
What better occasion to begin to recruit and train Lions to work the Health Screening Unit (HSU). We will have our first training on March 2 at the Maryland School for the Blind. We begin at 9AM and expect to finish by 1PM.
Lions will be trained on:
- Titmus Vision Screener (many of you have already been trained, but a review is warranted)
- Welsh Alllyn SPOT Vision Screener (used to screen children ages 6 months to 6 six years and will print out results for those that need referral)
- Earscan3 (an automatic audiometer that performs the test while you watch and will print out results for those who need referral)
- Reichert Auto Tonometer (performs a diagnostic test that measures the pressure inside an eye called intraocular pressure (IOP). This measurement can help a doctor determine whether a person can be at risk for glaucoma).
