MULTIPLE DISTRICT C APPROVED PROJECTS

Following is a list of projects that have received endorsement from the Council of Governor's. Each year the projects are reviewed and must meet requirements outlined by the Policy Manual of MDC to continue as an endorsed project 


 

STARS Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) (AB):

Orginially created by Lions of Multiple District 37. Over the past 15 years Lions of MD37 & MDC have contributed over  a $1,000,000 towards the operation of this valuable service. The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society is dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured. Lions Foundation of Canada:

The Lions Foundation of Canada is a federally incorporated charitable foundation created by the Lions Clubs of Canada. Its mission is to provide service to physically challenged Canadians in the area of mobility, safety and independence; and to assist other charitable endeavors as appropriate. MD C Lions Cavalcade For Diabetes Awareness (AB):

The Lions Cavalcade was born in 1987 when it was proposed to establish a highly visible province wide fund raising program to raise fund to support various Canadian Diabetes Association Diabetes Awareness programs. Current contact  PCC Dennis Stevenson, email: pdg37e@sunraybase.ca

 

Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC):

Approved by District 37E as the first operational Eyeglass Recycling Centre in Canada. The centre, handles the collection of old eyeglasses, the sorting, cleaning, and placing proper prescriptions on each pair, packaging same, and distributing them to programs and needy people throughout the world. With eyeglasses coming mainly from Lions Clubs, and many other sources. Operating at the Calgary Correctional Centre, with eight lensometers on-line, and are responsible for producing more than 200,000 glasses annually for shipment. The Center uses all volunteer offenders and one Correction Officer to oversee the program. Lions members, Senior Citizens Club members, Church members, Optometrist and grocery stores collect these glasses for the program. Chairperson Lion James Lee, email: jamio@telus.net

Canadian National Institute for the Blind (AB):

Has been helping blind, visually impaired and deafblind Canadians address one of the greatest challenges of their lives, thriving-not just surviving -in a sighted world. This is a national organization and has been operating since 1918. the Lions and Lioness Clubs provide financial support for specific requirements.
