About Us
Service
Lions Clubs are part of a global force for good—serving communities locally and around the world. In District 4-L4, 26 Lions clubs across Orange County and the Inland Empire bring global causes to life through hands-on service, supporting vision care, youth, the environment, hunger, health, and humanitarian efforts.
But Lions service does not stop there. It can be anything that meets a need or inspires people to help—from service and companion animals, veterans, sports, and music, to support for first responders and countless other community causes. The possibilities are endless when caring people
come together in service.
We Serve.
Lions Clubs of District 4-L4
District 4-L4 proudly supports 26 Lions clubs serving Orange County and Inland Empire communities in Southern California. Divided into four zones, the district provides expertise, training, and hands-on assistance to help every club grow and thrive. It also serves as an important communication bridge between local clubs and Lions Clubs International, connecting clubs to resources, information, and opportunities that strengthen service throughout the district.
Lions Club International
Lions Clubs are part of the world’s largest service organization—men and women, and families including children age 0-18 volunteering to make a difference. Since 1917, our mission has been simple: We Serve.
Mission of Lions Club International
Lions are neighbors helping neighbors—across every culture and community. From vision care and youth programs to diabetes awareness and global humanitarian efforts, Lions make a real difference where it matters most.
We Serve.
History of Lions Club International
Lions Clubs began with a simple but powerful idea. In 1917, Chicago businessman Melvin Jones challenged local leaders to look beyond business—and focus on serving their communities and the world. What started as a small gathering became a global movement.
In 1925, Helen Keller called on Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” Lions answered that call—and today are recognized worldwide for leading efforts in vision care and humanitarian service.
From one meeting to a global force for good, Lions continue to make a difference every day. We Serve.
SightFirst
Lions took a bold step in 1990 with SightFirst—a global mission to end preventable blindness. Through powerful partnerships and hands-on service, Lions help restore sight and bring hope to millions around the world.
Youth Programs
Lions are committed to helping young people thrive. Through service, leadership, and global connection, Lions youth programs create positive pathways that inspire growth and keep youth engaged in meaningful opportunities. Programs like Leo Clubs, Cubs, Youth Exchange, Youth Camps, Student Speaker, and the Peace Poster Contest build confidence, connection, and global understanding.
Lions Clubs International Foundation
When disaster strikes, Lions respond. Support LCIF—where 100% of proceeds fund relief efforts with no administrative costs. Every dollar goes directly to helping people in need. Join us in making a difference.
Knights of the Blind
Answering Helen Keller’s call to serve as “Knights of the Blind,” Lions have spent a century working to prevent blindness and restore vision.
In District 4-L4, we proudly partner with California Lions Friends in Sight to offer local vision clinics—providing screenings and free glasses to our communities.
