Lead to Serve, Serve to Lead
This is International President A.P. Singh’s moto this year. We continue to strive for more members and clubs to be able to continue to serve our communities and others around the world. What would your community look like without the Lions? There is a very impactful new video that can be found on lionsclubs.org that I would encourage all of you to watch. “This is a people’s organization for anyone who has a heart to serve.” “Leadership is about getting the work done so the world becomes better.” We are all able to be the leaders we need. Whether you’re leading a project, organizing events, or participating in training sessions, you’ll gain valuable skills that enhance your leadership capabilities. He believes we need to ask any and all of our friends and family to come serve with us and some will eventually want to join us in membership. I encourage you to ask your friends and family to participate in a service project with you and also to find out what their passion is and find activities that will answer that passion.
The International Convention and the GAT Summit were both very exciting and informative. We have been challenged to see if we can start 100 clubs in the first hundred days of this Lions Year. It is as simple as everyone asking one person to join and we can increase our membership greatly.
Our Global Extension Team is working hard to get a new club started in the Charlestown area and if you are interested in helping with their efforts and learning how to go about canvasing etc. I encourage you to join us. I hope to see many of you at our first District Meeting August 3rd at the Chesterfield Town Hall at 8:30AM. It is a chance to hear what is planned for this year, meet other Lions from around the state and network with others. All are invited. One of the items that was discussed was for all clubs to take more advantage of the AI platforms for our club activities.
There is the new Lion AI (Ellie) on the lionsclubs.org website as well as Lions Serve 2Grow, LionsMarket2Grow, LionsMap2Grow, and LionsLearn2Grow found at lionsvirtual.org. I encourage you to explore all of these. They are easy to use and free for most items. You have a certain number of inquiries per day for the Lions Virtual ones and then you have to wait a few hours to continue unless you buy the higher CHATGPT. Next month is Childhood Cancer Month. Think about a service activity your club can do that involves this pillar. We will have 3 weeks throughout the year where LionsUSA would like clubs to participate in service activities they are: Mental Health Week October 4-12, Hunger Week January 3-11, and Environmental Week April 18-26. I had a great visit with the Antrim-Bennington Lions club July 1st and was honored to install their officers.
Remember to contact me or CST Gregg to schedule visits for Service projects or meetings. I would like to get them on my calendar ASAP so I don’t miss anything. I look forward to Serving Together in Harmony this year. Keep up the fantastic work you are all doing!!
