Global Service Team (GST)
Message from your Global Service Team Leader:
Dear Lions of District 44N,
As I begin my term as your GSL, I am honored to be part of this incredible Lions family, and I’m excited to work with our remarkable leadership team as we head into what promises to be a dynamic and purposeful year. As we start our work this year to serve our community I wanted to share an idea from LCI.
Ignite the Spirit of Service with a Club Service Carnival!
Imagine the sound of laughter, the aroma of fresh popcorn, the energy of teamwork, and the joy of service— all wrapped into one unforgettable event. That’s the magic of a Lions Service Carnival, a dynamic and engaging way for your club to serve the community, recruit new members, and build visibility all at once. ——————————————————————————————————————————— What is a Lions Service Carnival?
A Service Carnival is an interactive, festival-style event where service meets celebration. Think of it as a “day of giving” where each booth is a mini-service project or awareness station based on Lions’ global causes: Vision Screenings Diabetes Awareness & Healthy Living Games Environmental Education Activities Hunger Relief Stations (like a can-struction competition!) Toy Drives or Comfort Kits for Childhood Cancer Support Disaster Preparedness Challenges Youth Engagement Corners LCIF Impact Showcase Each booth invites attendees to actively participate in service—whether that’s packing hygiene kits, planting seeds, painting kindness rocks, or signing up to be a Lion. ———————————————————————————————————————————- Why Host a Service Carnival?
1. Engage the Community Invite families, students, and community members to experience service in a fun, hands-on way.
2. Empower Volunteers Members of all ages and abilities can find a role—whether it’s manning a booth, leading an activity, or simply offering a smile and a stamp on a service passport. 3. Elevate Visibility Use this carnival to showcase what it means to be a Lion—serving with joy, energy, and purpose. It’s a great stage to invite potential members into our mission. 4. Inspire Youth Invite Leos, scouts, and students to co-lead booths. It’s a natural mentoring moment and a fun way to fulfill our commitment to developing youth leadership. ———————————————————————————————————————————- Planning Tips for Club Success ✔ Create a Service Passport – Give guests a card that gets stamped at each booth. Those who complete it get a prize—and leave with a full heart! ✔ Invite Local Partners – Engage fire departments, hospitals, schools, or environmental groups to join in with booths. ✔ Add Entertainment – Live music, face painting, or performances by local youth make it festive. ✔ Make It Local – Tie booths into your community’s specific needs. What matters here matters most. ✔ Promote Widely – Use social media, flyers, schools, and community bulletins to invite everyone. ———————————————————————————————————————————-- Our Motto in Motion “We Serve” is more than a slogan—it’s a call to action. A Service Carnival lets your club live that call loud and proud. It's service in technicolor. It’s fun. It’s impactful. It’s Lionism at its best. Let’s bring the whole community under the big top of kindness. Start planning your Lions Service Carnival today—and turn your club into a beacon of hope, joy, and purpose. Because when Lions lead with service, the whole world follows. Yours faithfully, Cheryl Patty, District 44N Global Service Team Leader
